i am looking into how the attempts at modernization and concurrent continued collapse of the ottoman empire impacted western (for now) maps made of the area specifically the representation of constantinople/istanbul in maps or as insets on maps since it was also the seat of a Christian empire previous to being the seat of a Muslim empire.
