litigious
so, i was whining at lunch about the one neighbor on each street who seems totally oblivious to the idea of shoveling the sidewalk. the explanation that was given amazed me, but it made sense in the context of our litigious society.
if you shovel your walk and someone slips and falls, they can sue. you are liable for the poor shoveling job.
if you don't shovel your walk and allow it to become an ice capade's dream, slick and smooth, you can't be sued. the ice is seen as an act of god.
so, negligence here is the legally safe option.
i'm shocked only one of my neighbors opted out.

litigious?
so its really winter there i take it....
that's what you get for choosing to live in a cold harsh city like Chicago - do I shovel in 7 degree weather and risk getting sued or do i sit on my ass and let the snow pile up and stay safe?
I'm kind of glad that Canada isn't as litigious as the US 'cause otherwise nobody be able to get around.
p.s. i thought it was litiginous too.
now where did we get that from?
i changed it! i don't know where i got that and now someone anonymous person thinks i am an idiot.
